Bret Hart on board for CAC 2007

From CAC life member and 2007 Honoree Bob Leonard
Bret Hart has traveled a long road from his roots in the storied Stampede Wrestling territory promoted by his father - and 2001 Iron Mike Mazurki Award recipient - Stu Hart. His career also saw stints in European and Japanese rings, then hit all the high spots in 14 tumultuous years as "The Hitman" and five-time world champion of WWF's far-flung promotions, and three years and two brief world title runs with WCW.

But come April 2007, the man who is likely the best-known Canadian wrestler in history will be making a brand new journey......Too Las Vegas, for the 42nd annual reunion of the Cauliflower Alley Club.

"This is my first time at Cauliflower Alley, and I'm really looking forward to it," Bret says. "I especially want to be there when my old friend Bob Leonard is honored, and Canada's great roster of professional wrestlers is recognized. And it'll be a terrific opportunity to get reacquainted with a lot of people I haven't seen in many years."

Front and center to welcome Bret as an old friend will undoubtedly be Harley Race. The Hart family and Harley have shared a special bond of friendship over many years, through his many appearances in the Stampede territory and private visits to Calgary. Bret should make many new friends as well, from wrestlers he's never happened to cross paths with to the serious wrestling devotees who regularly attend our reunions.
Bret has spent November and December touring Canada with the hit stage production "Aladdin", playing the part of The Genie. This updated version of the fable, first produced in Toronto three years ago, is a colorful evening of humor and just plain fun for the entire family. The Genie role brings to the forefront many of the memorable traits of Bret's "Hitman" ring persona. After spending much of the winter in Italy, Bret's trip to Las Vegas and CAC will be at the top of his calendar on his return to North America in the spring.

Above photo,"Aladdin" presents Bret as The Genie in a brand new arena, the musical comedy stage. He’ll likely tour with the production again in 2007

The Cauliflower Alley club is proud to have Bret "Hitman" Hart joining the reunion as we celebrate "Canadian Wrestlers" at this coming years reunion.

A lovely lady joins the heavenly choir

At 3:00 AM this morning our beloved Ann Bowman left this earth to join the heavenly choir. Ann who is the beloved wife of CAC Director Bill Bowman and a major force of the Gulf Coast Wrestling Reunion lost her bout with Cancer today. Everyone who had the pleasure to know her will miss her smiles and warm greetings, weather you were at the Gulf Coast or at the CAC where she also pitched in at the reservation desk during our Board meetings, or where ever she could. Ann loved the wrestling business and those involved in it, if the title of first lady was to be voted on, I think Ann would have run away with the votes.

To Big Sky Bill Bowman words can not express our feelings for his loss, but our love and concern are with him. Our loss is heavens gain, and those who believe will see her again, her faith was strong and she was a inspiration to so many.

RIP: Jerry Carroll aka El Shereef

passed away from cancer today at his home in Southern California. He was a main event wrestler in the late 1950's and throughout the 1960's before retiring from wrestling to become a physician. He worked as Jerry Woods, El Shereef, and apperared in Hawaii under yet a third ring name. He was in his late 60s.

The CAC send our condolences to the friends and family of El Shereef, Jerry Carroll.

Don Jardine

In all my years with the club, I have had to deal with the loss of many friends and seen the sorrow both from family and club members, though I only met Don Jardine one time in Nashville TN several years ago at a fan convention we were both working. Him as The Spoiler, and me for the CAC. I was extremely impressed with his skill and ability and knowledge about such a wide variety topics. We talked about everything other then wrestling, business law and corporate structure, he was really interested in my life outside the wrestling world. I asked to join the CAC and he said he would think about it, was not really a joiner but would really think about it.

I bring this up, because last Saturday, I received his membership application, his reservations to attend the banquet in April for him and his wife Becky. I was excited and sent out e mails announcing his coming and finally joining the CAC to a lot of members. This was mailed on the 8th from home in Canada. When I looked at our web site on Sunday afternoon to see he had passed away, the day I received his application, was a shock to say the least. The wrestling world lost another great talent, the CAC lost something we never had but wanted so much. His membership will still be recorded complimentary, and he will still be included in the Friday night honoring the Canadians.

In closing our heart felt condolences go out to his family and those who knew him well.

Many Moods....By Joey Boesch

This is the title of the second CD, CAC's proud member Joey Boesch has just released. Joey has entertained the CAC members at the annual reunions for several years. And is always a welcome at any CAC function. Jamie Quinn recently set down with Joey and his mom Valerie and discussed what made Joey a "Musical Genius".

Joey lost his sight shortly after birth, and began playing the piano by ear at age 4. He has an acute sense of hearing and and astounding memory, but attributes none of these enhanced abilities to science. Instead Joey describes his talent as a "gift from God".

By age 7, Joey began taking formal piano lessons and often entertained audiences at home, at school and at church. "It was something I did every day," said Boesch. "But, I guess I more or less considered it just for play." Joey studied piano and voice at Lamar University in Beaumont and later attended Houston Baptist University.

Joeys talent has caught the eyes of many people over the years and has giving him the honor to performing in front of the likes of Paul Anka, Dennis James and Bob Hope, to Liberace, Kenny Rogers and even the President of the United States.

A few times a month Joey performs for Prison inmates in Lake Jackson.
"Its a church service, I do the music along with some other members of my team, and we have a special guest speaker to bring the gospel message to the inmates."

Joey says his faith has helped him through some tough challenges. He was born prematurely and received to much oxygen after birth. As a result, he lost his sight and developed a very mild form of cerebral palsy.

"Growing up, I was challenged at times by my disability, but I was able to overcome it, and find ways to get around it. With God all things are possible."

Joey's mom (and personal manager), Valerie said of Joey,"He has a divine gift. He is brilliant, his mind is brilliant."

Joey's father the great promoter Paul Boesch was well liked and highly respectable gentleman. And Joey and his mother Valerie continue to keep the Boesch name as respected as it was with his late father. If you would like to purchase a cd from Joey or learn more about Joeys love for music. Please visit his website at www.joeyboesch.com There you can view some photos of people Joey has performed for. Such as the late President Ronald Reagan, First Lady Barbara Bush, Dan Quayle, Red Buttons, Phillis Diller, former Texas Governor George W. Bush and many more.

As always the Cauliflower Alley Club looks forward to another night of entertainment from Joey at the 2007 Reunion in Las Vegas.

RIP: "The Spoiler" Don Jardine

One of wrestling's greatest masked men ever has died. Don Jardine, as the highly menacing and influencial Spoiler, was one of wrestling's major players for three decades. His approach to performing was so unique, he made a lasting impression on everybody who saw him.

Slam! Wrestling has written a wonderful piece about him, which you can see here.

We at the CAC send our condolences to the friends and family of Don Jardine.
