Greetings from the CAC

In a effort to keep our web site better then all the basic items on the web today, we have started a section called, "where are they now ?"

We would like to have you send us a bio of yourself and a story that you have from your years as a fan, or your years of working in the ring and what your doing today, every fan and worker has stories to tell. Believe me the wrestlers and our members love to read the items and to keep up with your life after wrestling. Also, the Wrestlers love to read the stories from the "non-wrestling" members of the club.

We get somewhere around 7800 hits a day to the CAC site and we want to keep it interesting and full of REAL news.

Please send your bio/storiy to me here at cac@fidnet.com and I will get it to the web masters to go on the site, if you have not checked out the site lately, please do so, I think you will be impressed.

Thanking you in advance,

Karl Lauer

RIP: Bob Luce

Former CAC member and wrestling promoter Bob Luce passed away Thursday February 8th on the eve of his 79th birthday.

Ahead of his time in the sports-as-entertainment world, Luce was a wrestling promoter extraordinaire in the 1960s and '70s.

Luce died Thursday on the eve of his 79th birthday. Bob's passion became wrestling in general and marketing it in particular. He was literally wedded to the game, marrying a star female wrestler named Sharon Lass.

He brought noted grapplers such as Andre the Giant, Dick the Bruiser, Buddy Rogers, Gorgeous George and Verne Gagne to Chicago, showcased them in appearances, including his weekly local TV show leading up to his events, and introduced them with elaborate music as they entered the arena.

His main place of business was the International Amphitheater, where he reportedly drew 120,000 fans to 14 shows with gross receipts in excess of $325,000 in 1968, all impressive numbers at that time.
